Alternative Professional Learning

When it comes to our Professional Learning, the second word in the phrase "Learning" is what people think is the main idea. As long as something is being taught to someone, learning is happening. That is a false narrative about Professional Learning. The main point that always gets overlooked is the actual learner. If nothing is being learned there is a lot of waste. A waste of money, time and energy.That is why the 5 principles come into effect and change the way a PL session looks. Support- Support is what makes a difference in their work. Implementing new ideas requires time and practice. Feedback is critical to the success of change implementation.For modeling, during our professional learning meetings, materials that were used should be sent or linked for reference. Content Specific-Teachers want information that is targeted to their students' individual grade level and curriculum area. The audience's professional learning has to be relevant.
