Professional Learning

Most Professional Learning is given in a time span and a paper handout with a presentation. This is boring to most so they have already half blocked the information out and started making tasks list while this is going on.Some might pay more attention, but like Ms. Daniel's mentioned the handout gets lost in a pile of papers then when it comes time to actually use it, we draw a blank. Support is what is needed, but this is not always realized.“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin).This famous quote from Benjamin Franklin is what most Professional Learning sessions should revolve around. Yes, some knowledge could be retained by lecturing, a little more with a handout, but if we have the kinesthetic approach and actually have to do what is being showed, we will likely remember and be more involved in the learning.
