"Attitudes follow behavior, they do not predict it" (Cross 2013) When first hearing Cross begin her TEDx Talk bringing up the topic that common sense not being relevant to behavior changes, it certainly made me curious about the myths she had of the behavior changes. After reflecting on the myths and relating to the content, the surprising yet easiest concept was being able to connect to values. Having to have people buy into something new takes more than a pretty presentation to back up the why's.If the idea connects to a certain value they will likely buy in. Then another factor Cross mentions is social norms having the biggest impact. With the initiative to have students create an EPortfolio, a positive atmosphere with students authentically using technology will thrive with the supported value of the students transitioning to a world full of technology. Some factors of influence I believe will benefit my project initiative would be the choice option instead of having one way to do everything. Then with the students feeding off of each others work, they will want to create their own authentically them EPortfolio.
